Part 1
General Privacy Policy
Bowie Nature Park is owned and operated by the City of Fairview, Tennessee. In this statement, “we,” “us” and “our” mean Bowie Nature Park and the City of Fairview. It explains what information we collect through bowiepark.org, how we use and share it, how we protect it, and the choices you have. It also applies to information you give us by phone, email, mail or in person at the Nature Center.
You can explore this website, read trail information and check the events calendar without telling us who you are.
01Information We Collect
We collect very little. Most of what we receive comes straight from you, when you choose to contact us. Depending on what you do, that can include:
- Contact details such as your name, email address and phone number, when you call, email or write to us
- Details you give us to sign up for a park program or event, or to reserve or pay for a park facility
- Photos, questions or reports you choose to send us, for example about trail conditions
- Technical information collected automatically when you visit, such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed and referring site
02How We Use Your Information
We use personal information to:
- Answer your questions and respond to requests and reports
- Arrange program sign-ups, events and facility reservations
- Let you know about changes, such as a canceled program or trail closure, that affect plans you have made with us
- Keep accurate records, as Tennessee law requires of the City
- Protect our systems and keep this website working well
- Understand, in aggregate, how the website is used so we can improve it
03Cookies and Tracking Technologies
This website uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember your consent choices, and understand how visitors use our pages so we can improve them. Analytics cookies, and cookies from embedded videos and maps, are set only according to the preferences you choose in our cookie banner. You can change those choices at any time, and you can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Our Cookies Policy lists each cookie we use, what it does and how long it lasts.
04Public Records
Because the park is operated by the City of Fairview, it is subject to the Tennessee Public Records Act. Emails and other correspondence you send the park may be public records that anyone can ask to see, unless state law makes them confidential.
Please do not send sensitive information such as Social Security or bank account numbers by email.
05How We Share Your Information
We share personal information only as needed to serve you, or as permitted or required by law, including with:
- City of Fairview departments and staff who need it to respond to you
- Service providers who support the park and this website, such as website hosting and email, under obligations to protect the information
- Program partners or instructors, only when needed to run a program you signed up for
- Anyone who makes a valid request under the Tennessee Public Records Act, for information that is not confidential
- Law enforcement, courts and regulators when required by law, or to protect the safety of park visitors, the public or the City
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or share it with outside companies for their own marketing.
06How Long We Keep Information
We keep information for as long as we need it for the purposes described here and for the periods set by the records retention schedules that apply to Tennessee municipalities. When those periods end, records are securely destroyed or the details that identify you are removed.
07Your Rights and Choices
You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct anything that is incomplete or inaccurate. You can change your cookie choices whenever you like. Because some City records must be kept by law, we may not be able to delete some information, and we will explain if that applies to your request.
To make a request, call, email or write to the Nature Center using the details at the bottom of this page. We will confirm your identity before releasing or changing any information. California residents have additional rights, described in the California Privacy Notice below.
08How We Protect Information
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including encrypted connections on this website, access limited to staff who need the information, and service providers who are required to protect it. No website or system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
09Links to Other Websites
This site links to and embeds services run by others for your convenience, such as Facebook, YouTube, Google Maps, the City of Fairview website and the Friends of Bowie Nature Park. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and we are not responsible for them. Please review the privacy policy of every site you visit.
10Where Information Is Processed
We and our service providers primarily store and process information in the United States. If you contact us from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and handled in the U.S., where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
11Children’s Privacy
Families are always welcome at the park, but this website is meant for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. Program sign-ups for children are handled with a parent or guardian. If we learn that a child under 13 has sent us information through this site, we will delete it unless the law requires us to keep it.
12Changes to This Privacy Statement
We may update this statement from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version on this page.
Part 2

We provide this notice anyway, because every visitor deserves the same clear answers and the same control, and we will honor the requests described below.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

07Retention of Personal Information
We keep each category of personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose it was collected for, and for any period required by the Tennessee records retention schedules that apply to local governments. It is then securely deleted or de-identified.
