Our Commitment
A Site Everyone Can Use With Confidence.
Bowie Nature Park is committed to making bowiepark.org accessible to everyone, including people who are blind or have low vision, are deaf or hard of hearing, have limited mobility, or have cognitive or learning differences.
We aim to meet the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more usable for people with a wide range of disabilities, and following them makes the site easier for everyone to use. As part of the City of Fairview, the park shares the City’s commitment to the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Accessibility is ongoing work. We review the site as we add pages and features, and we welcome your feedback.

Built Into the Site
Accessibility by Design.
The accessibility menu is a helpful extra, but we also design the site itself with accessibility in mind:
- Logical heading structure and page landmarks for screen reader navigation
- Keyboard access to menus, links, buttons and forms, with a visible focus outline
- Text and background colors chosen for strong contrast
- Respect for your device’s “reduce motion” setting
- Descriptive link and button text, and labeled form fields
- Layouts that adapt to phones and tablets and support browser zoom
Compatibility
The site is designed to work with current versions of the major browsers and with the assistive technology people rely on every day:
- Browsers: Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Brave and DuckDuckGo
- Screen readers such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver and TalkBack
- Screen magnifiers, voice control and keyboard-only navigation
Known Limitations
Despite our efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible:
- Older PDF documents, such as trail maps, park guides and monthly flyers
- Facebook feeds, maps and videos embedded from other providers
- Websites run by other organizations that we link to, such as program partners
If you need any of this information in another format, contact us and we will provide it.
