Bowie Nature Park is the city of Fairview’s 722-acre forest, and everyone is welcome. Fishing, running, walking and the Treehouse Playground can be enjoyed every day of the year, and there is no charge to come in. Bicycling and horseback riding are open daily too, depending on trail conditions: trails close to riders when they are wet or muddy. Non-residents pay a $2 daily trail fee for each bike and each horse.
The entrance is on Highway 100, about a mile west of the Highway 96/100 exchange in Williamson County. Within the park, 17 miles of winding trails move through several ecosystems: wetlands, grasslands, pine forest, oak and hickory forest, riparian corridor and lowland bottomland.
With our modern Nature Center, Bowie is also a place to learn. You can reserve Joann’s Outdoor Classroom or the picnic areas for a community or social event.
